AUXILIARY

VOLUNTEERS SERVING VETERANS, MILITARY, AND THEIR FAMILIES

HOW WE SERVE

While originally organized to assist The American Legion, the Auxiliary has achieved its own unique
identity while working side-by-side with the veterans who belong to The American Legion. Like the Legion, the Auxiliary’s interests have broadened to encompass the entire community.

The American Legion Auxiliary is made up of the male and female spouses, grandmothers, mothers, sisters, and direct and adopted female descendants of members of The American Legion. Through its nearly 10,500
units located in every state and some foreign countries, the Auxiliary embodies the spirit of America that has prevailed through war and peace. Along with The American Legion, it solidly stands behind America and its ideals.

SCHOLARSHIPS

The Auxiliary supports various scholarship programs that benefit veterans, the descendants of veterans, and The American Legion Family. If you are interested in applying for a scholarship, check out the scholarship links for eligibility requirements, deadlines, and application forms.

ALA GIRLS NATION

Leadership Lessons for Life. For seven days, ALA Girls Nation senators hold mock Senate sessions which require them to write, caucus, and debate bills; campaign for elected office; elect an ALA Girls Nation president and vice president; and work together to pass legislation. But, the program is so much more than hours spent in Senate.

ALA POPPY PROGRAM

Connecting the visual image of the poppy with the sacrifice of service made by our veterans has been an important goal of the American Legion Auxiliary Poppy Program since its inception in 1921. On Memorial Day and Veterans Day, millions of red crepe paper poppies are distributed across the country in exchange for donations that go directly to assist disabled and hospitalized veterans in our communities.
